Who loves fairy tales? Or rather, who doesn’t?
Stories let us immerse ourselves in foreign worlds, experience adventures, and—ideally—take something away from them. At best, an insight that challenges our perspective on various things, situations, and opinions. Fairy tales, in particular, are often meant to be instructive. Some, however, are pretty intense—especially many of the old Grimm fairy tales. At least in my opinion. Just think of *Max and Moritz*, *The Soup-Smasher*, or *Fidgety Philip*. As a child, those were actually more daunting to me than anything else.
But of course, there are also the beautiful, fairy-tale-like ones that offer hope and a happy ending.
And that’s exactly the kind of story I wrote for my new fabric collection, some of whose designs are being released by Mary n’ Mary Lillestoff.
The fairy tale of “The Little Fox Who Was Different.” – (only available in German, sorry)
It’s about a little fox who is constantly ostracized and teased because of the color of his fur, until he finally leaves home to do something about his supposed flaw.
Luckily, he meets a little hedgehog who doesn’t fit the prevailing image of what a hedgehog is supposed to be any more than he does, as well as the hedgehog’s friends—a colorful group of animals who live in a cheerful, colorful forest and look out for one another like a family…
And now—to the fabrics, get set, go!
