Summer Honey Bees Fabric Kollektion

I’m a real summer fan and love my little garden, which has come to resemble a jungle—where the grass grows only where it’s not supposed to, and where I’d planned to have a lawn, everything else is growing instead. Right now, it’s mostly thyme, which is quite handy. When you walk over it, it smells wonderful, and the greenery doesn’t get very tall either, so this year I actually only mowed it once—way back in early spring—and it’s been green and blooming ever since.

Of course, this also delights the insects, which swarm in droves among the flowers of thyme, lavender, and yarrow. The funniest are always the chubby bumblebees that try to perch on the lavender flowers, bobbing up and down as they do so. Every time, I wait for one to be flung back up as if by a catapult.

The bees, too, love to buzz around the smaller and larger flowers—and also the plums that are now ripening. But I’m happy to let them have those; after all, the first third of the fruit that the tree drops is always wormy. Those that don’t mind can gnaw on them. Once, I actually accidentally trapped a bee in a bucket full of plums that had been sitting in the sun a bit too long, and when I opened the lid again, the little bee flew toward me, completely drunk, in wobbly circles.
I hope it didn’t have a hangover for too long.

But now, finally, let’s talk about the Late Summer Honeybees fabric collection

The hand-drawn late-summer designs in sweet honey tones—featuring bees, poppies, summer blossoms, honeycombs, woven patterns, and circles—are available in jersey, cotton poplin, summer sweat, scuba, and my favorite bag fabric, canvas.
For anyone who loves patchwork and quilts but doesn’t necessarily want to pick out all the fabrics themselves, this time there’s also a pre-assembled “cheater quilt”—you simply need to order enough of it, and after adding batting and sewing on the backing, you can just quilt it. There are also round pillows again, which can be sewn into couch pillows or floor cushions.

Here are some more beautiful sewing ideas from our design seamstresses, featuring fabrics from the late-summer Honey Bees collection.
