This bags where made for a challenge of the German “Initiative Handarbeit”, an initiative by various manufacturers of fabrics, patterns, and yarns to promote DIY.
This year’s project is a basket bag, which can be made in a wide variety of styles, sizes, and materials. It can be knitted or sewn, and there’s a free pattern available for download along with instructions on the “Mach dein Ding 2026” page.
I’ve made two bags from the canvas testprints of my Blossoms and Bees 
fabric collection for Mary n Max Lillestoff and also used one of the apple tree blossoms for embroidery.
Here are a few impressions how I put together the fabrics for the project and sewed and hand embroidered the bags.
