Tik Tak Toe is a popular game all year round. Sewn from fabric, it is easy to pack away and play on uneven surfaces, such as in the car on holiday.
It also makes a great Christmas gift with its festive designs.
And it is very easy to sew.
The required materials are:
- 1 panel, e.g. my ‘House of St Nicholas’ panel, which will soon be available from Lillestoff.
- 50cm x 50cm padding
- Gravel, rice or similar to fill the tokens.
- Velcro, if necessary, to hold the tokens in place during the game (for uneven surfaces)
- Sewing thread
How to sew the Playmat:
- Cut out all the pieces along the dotted edges.
- Place the front and back of the playmat right sides together and place the padding on top.
- Topstitch along the edges of the playmat, leaving a turning opening.
- Trim the seam allowance at the corners to avoid bumps.
- Turn the playmat inside out and close the turning opening.
- Topstitch along the field lines to prevent warping.
- If you like, attach one of the Velcro dots to each individual square to hold the pieces in place during playing.
How to sew the Tokens:
- If you want to sew on Velcro dots, it is best to do this before sewing the tokens together.
- Now place two pieces of the same colour right sides together, and sew along the edge – don’t forget the turning opening.
- Turn the pieces inside out, fill them with a material of your choice and close the opening.
That’s it!
